School kills creativity.

It was really hard to understand Ken Robinson and his jokes because he talked really fast, but at the same time, it was really interesting to hear what he said. After all the things he said I kept thinking about how people judge our dreams when we are kids. Like he said, the society thinks, if you like to dance you will become in a dancer, and if you like the art you will become in an artist and thats not true. First of all, there is nothing wrong if you want to be a guitar player or a photographer. When I was a child I wanted to be a photographer but constantly the poeple told me that I was going to die in my poorness and finally I forgot it. That is happening these days in our school, they are not supporting the children´s dreams because the idea of to be succesful is to have a degree.

Also he talked about a girl who was drawing God, and her teacher told her that nobody has seen God. And she said, "well, now they are going to do it". I dont know which was the reaction of the teacher but I know that in some cases the children are repressed when they have new ideas.

The man talked about many other things but the creativity in the school is a subject we should be interested in.

  1. Hello!

Certantly it is a fact that kids have their own creativity and personality as well, but as you know the main purpose that the scholl should improved is developing their capacities to have a better comunication with others.

  2. Hi!

I think this issue it's very important.
In my opinion it's really sad to realize that schools are killing the children's imagination or creativity, in some way.
It suppose that school should let them express their ideas or thoughts.
Now that we are "working" in schools, we could see every day that kids don't do anything without asking, specially when they have been studing for more than 2 or 3 years at school. Moreover, the teachers don't let them do anything by themselves.
    That makes me feel bad.

    See you... Byee!

  4. kids have beautiful dreams when they are kinds and it is true that sometimes adults distroy their dreams just because they think that they are not a good idea... but, what if someone wants to be a painter and then he or she desides not being that bacause of the other`s opinions, and then we lost an incredible and unique painter?
Most of the time we have to let people having dreams..we live because of them!

I see your point, the society is the one who limit the dreams. Because it is more respectful a the career of medicine than the career of photograph. It's really sad, but it's true. I stongly believe that we, as teachers, have to support the children's dreams and encourage to realize them.

    Regards...
    See you on monday
